Trump recovering, Bennie Thompson aide wishes shooter had better aim

During a rally in Pennsylvania yesterday, Donald Trump was shot by a gunman who attempted to take his life. The morning after, Trump appears to be doing fine but please keep him in your prayers. And keep our country in your prayers.
It’s a sad day for our country and a sad moment for the state of politics. I remember when President Reagan was shot and how that impacted each of us. Today, I’m in Milwaukee representing Mississippi and working to take our country back before the Republican convention.
Because the problems are deep. Yesterday showed us that.
Last night, Trump issued this statement:
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured.”
While most rushed to condemn the shooting, regardless of their party affiliation, Democrats in Mississippi took a different path. A field director for Congressman Bennie Thompson, Jacqueline Marsaw, lamented the aim of the shooter.

What makes these comments even more despicable and the events from yesterday more disturbing is that Thompson filed legislation less than three months ago to remove Secret Service protections for Trump.
And now, the Congressman who wanted Secret Service protections removed has staffers calling for the former president’s assassination.
This is a disgrace to our state and our nation. Thompson needs to fire Marsaw. And Mississippi Democrats need to repudiate this language and stop embarrassing our state!
