THE SAFER ACT HAS PASSED AND IS HEADED TO THE GOVERNOR FOR SIGNATURE!

Politics can be very frustrating. It can also be very surprising.
Earlier this week, we told you how the House and Senate had let the SAFER Act die in conference because the two sides were unable to come to an agreement. There’s plenty of reasons bills die, good and bad – even bills that have 95% of Mississippi voters behind them like this.
But what was most disappointing to me was what this would mean to Mississippi’s girls and women. At a time when the Biden administration is redefining what a woman is and forcing men into our private spaces through the recent radical Title IX re-write, it is crucial that we immediately protect Mississippi girls and women— and their safe spaces.
And then on Thursday, lawmakers revived the SAFER Act and it passed both the House and Senate, again! Just so you understand – reviving a “dead” bill isn’t easy. It takes a much larger lift than usual. But lawmakers did it!
And they did it because of you! THANK YOU! All of your calls and texts and emails—they mattered, and you made a difference!
You reached out. Your voice were heard. And your lawmakers responded.
I can’t thank you enough!
That said, I want to ask you to call your lawmakers one more time and tell them THANK YOU. First and foremost, please thank Senators Josh Harkins, Jeremy England, and Representative Celeste Hurst who sponsored this crucial bill. They truly modeled what it should look like to work across both chambers to pass good legislation for Mississippi.
Thank you Lt Gov. Delbert Hosemann, Speaker Jason White,
Sen. Brice Wiggins, Rep. Joey Hood, and all of the Mississippi Legislature for protecting Mississippi girls and women!!
THANK YOU again for your support for the SAFER Act! It has been a long, hard battle, and it goes a long way to thank them.
