Biden’s Title IX Rewrite Strips Away Protections For Women

The Biden Administration’s final Title IX radical rule change has just dropped, and it is as bad as we feared.
The rewrite re-imagines Title IX to permit the invasion of women’s spaces and the reduction of women’s rights in the name of elevating protections for “gender identity,” which flies in the face of the original intent behind and purpose of Title IX. This is a massive threat to women and girls, who deserve equal opportunity, safety, and protection in education.
By claiming that Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of “gender identity,” a term never mentioned in the original statute nor envisioned by lawmakers in 1972, the Biden administration’s rewrite forces schools to let males who identify as women take women’s scholarships and invade women’s private spaces — including bathrooms, locker rooms, housing accommodations, or other educational programs. Women’s sports are likely at risk, too—though the administration seems to be delaying a ruling on males in female sports until after the election in November.
Specifically, the new rule will:
- Force students and teachers to use “preferred pronouns” or face discipline
- Eliminate historically sex-separated spaces
- Require schools to eliminate all sexual misconduct, even such conduct of which they are unaware, pressuring schools to create woke bureaucracies to police speech
- Dissolve protections for accused students (again, whose action may be failure to use the “correct” pronouns), including the right to see evidence against them.
Any school, including many private schools who receive even small amounts of federal funding, will be forced to follow this rule. What does this mean?
Mississippi must pass the SAFER Act as soon as possible! It will keep men out of women and girls’ private spaces such as bathrooms, changing rooms, locker rooms, dorms, sorority houses, etc. This is needed now more than ever in the face of a hostile administration in Washington that is actively using Title IX to actually harm women and girls and erase 50 years of protections and opportunities for females.
Please kindly contact your lawmakers and ask them to protect women and girls in our state and pass the SAFER Act for the Governor to sign. Mississippi women are united on this! And we do not have time to wait!
