The SAFER Act Moves In The House!

Thank you to the House Public Property Committee for moving HB 1428, the SAFER Act, out of committee yesterday. Thanks to all of you who called your lawmakers—it could not have happened without you! Thank you to the bill sponsor, Rep. Celeste Hurst, for being such a strong champion for women and girls!
The SAFER Act will:
- Protect the safety and privacy of Mississippi’s girls and women,
- Define a woman and man from birth, and
- Provide a cause of action for any violation of the Act.
It’s the only bill submitted that both defines men and women from birth and then takes the next crucial step to protect women and girls’ private/safe spaces.
The bill now moves to the House Judiciary A Committee where it must pass by TUESDAY, MARCH 5. We have until March 5th to also move the Senate version of the SAFER Act, SB 2753, out of the Senate Judiciary A Committee. Thank you to the bill sponsors, Senators Harkins and England, for being such strong champions for women and girls!
Please call your representative and senator if they are on these respective committees and kindly ask them to support the SAFER Act to protect Mississippi girls and women’s safe spaces!
